2007 Magic: The Gathering Malaysia National Championship

Monday, May 21, 2007

The biggest Malaysian Magic: The Gathering tournament held every year is coming soon, and this year's edition will be held on the 1st and 2nd of September 2007. This is a very big thing, because there is no better avenue to step into the professional play arena.

This year's cash payouts for the nationals is USD 7,000. That's a whopping roughly RM23,000! There's products for consololation prizes, but that's not important. Here's a table for the cash payout.

Place Payout
1st USD 2,100
2nd USD 1,600
3rd USD 1,100
4th USD 800
5th-6th USD 400
7th-8th USD 300
TOTAL USD 7,000

But, the most important thing is, getting on the top 4 gets you an invitation to the World Championships 2007 and the chance to represent the country as the national team on the team event during the championship! Each National Team will receive the minimum prize of $3000 USD. However, since teams consist of 4 players, each player will receive $750. Minimum.

Interested? The Nationals is an invite only event. Here's how you can get yourself invited.

INVITATION CRITERIA
The 2007 Malaysia Nationals invitation list is comprised as follows:

  • 2006 Malaysia National Champion
  • Members of the 2006 Malaysia national team (including alternate)
  • Players who attain the status of Pro Player Club Level 2 and above
  • Top 4 finishers of the following 2007 Malaysia Regional Championships held on
  • Top 2 finishers of the following 2007 Malaysia Regional Championships held on
  • Top 4 finishers of the following Nationals Qualifier tournaments
  • Top 75 DCI Composite ranked players.
National Championship’s Ranking-Based Invitations no longer pass down to previously uninvited players. The Top 75 DCI Composite ranked players will receive invitations even if one or more of those players already possesses an invitation. DCI Composite invitations are based on the ratings published June 27, 2007.

Welcome to Care Club MMU Malacca!

Thursday, May 10, 2007

Hi - you might be directed here from the nexus forums. If you are, we welcome you. :D But unfortunately, you will not read much that should be of interest to you (in fact, the rest of the post is copied from the forums, heheh). But please do stick around, and I promise we'll be writing about the games we have and things to come.

If you're not, here's finally an introduction to our club. XD

What we are right now, is a gaming community, dedicated to non-electronic games, who want the public to know that gamers care too, and want to give back to our society, to improve a typical gamer's image and show other people how misconceptions and misunderstanding over the press and internet about how violent, repulsive and socially inept gamers are are wrong.

We are gamers who wants to give back to our society, similar in a way and in the spirit of Penny Arcade's Child's Play - http://www.childsplaycharity.org/

We want to show that we gamers care too.

Thank you for visiting our blog. :D

Euro Game Cafe in Melaka!

Monday, May 7, 2007

"Great news for all euro gamers in Melaka... a new cafe has decided to become the home of euro games in this region, so what are you waiting for!!!

Appropriately named Eurasia Cafe, the chef was previously with a re-known hotel, so gamers will be savoring authentic Portuguese fusion F&B instead of the usual finger foods served by most games cafes!

Their address is:

Eurasia Cafe
1B 35, Jalan Kesidang,
Off Jalan Tun Perak,
75300 Bachang, Melaka
Contact: 012-3943601.

and they are in the same row as the Prudential training center & 7-11.

With ample parking, great fusion food and about a dozen games to get you going, this should be a welcome haven for gamers in Melaka!" - Imagine Games

Game Spotlight : [MtG] Future Sight (New Release)

The quest to mend Dominaria’s temporal and planar damage continues. A temporal rift connected to an alternate Dominaria has enabled Phyrexian horrors to cross over into the present day. Freyalise is gone, having given her planeswalker spark and her life to close that rift, thereby protecting her sanctum of Skyshroud one last time.

But time fractures still plague Dominaria. The damage to the planar fabric at Tolaria was so severe that it couldn’t be healed—not in the present day. The heroes seek out the planeswalker Karn, the only being ever to travel through time. To heal Tolaria’s rift, Karn uses the full extent of his planeswalking power to enter the rift and return to the past, to the moment before the archwizard Barrin cast a spell that obliterated countless Phyrexians and himself. Karn succeeds and seals the planar rift before Barrin’s actions can rip it open. In the next moment, Karn is lost.

Even as Venser begins to realize his full potential, the planeswalker Jeska returns to Dominaria for the first time since Karona fell. Her friend and ally Karn is gone, and someone will pay. An ancient, evil intelligence drives Jeska’s wrath and threatens to undermine Teferi and Jhoira’s efforts to complete Dominaria’s healing: Leshrac has returned.

Future Sight is here! The set releases May 4, 2007, and worldwide release tournaments will be held May 4, 5, or 6. For all the official information released so far on this highly anticipated set, see the links below. For even more information, make sure to explore the Future Sight minisite.
